? >> here the united states is a beacon of democracy to people around the world, and our republican leaders are saying to americans, we're going to make it harder for you to vote. >> stephanie: right. and one thing that is very key is voting is a right. it's not like driving is a privilege it's a right. >> that's right. and we have had big struggles in this country to make sure everybody has that right. so republicans are working very hard to turn back the clock when it comes to people's voting rights. it's a scandal. and the reason is they figure if they can limit people from voting, that -- the big money guys will be able to call the shots in the agenda. i guess we shouldn't have been surprised but during the % republican convention in tampa they had this big yacht show up to thank all of the romney dones or and it turned out it was from the cayman islands. >> stephanie: that's right. >> so mitt romney can send jobs overseas -- a lot of companies set up these fake fronts in the cayman islands, it's a way to offshore american profits and american jobs. >> when the
states getting barraged by this stuff. karl rove thought citizens united would be the ticket. they were going to write checks and buy the presidency and buy the white house. it is not working out that way and i think the real test in fund-raising will be october. if people realize that you know, is there going to be a conventional wisdom that this thing has completely flipped away from romney. because that was really the one advantage they had and as of today, even that has evaporated. >> john: i'm really shocked. i think you're right eric. one of the things we discussed on the current tv coverage of the conventions last week was how citizens united in the beginning was seen to completely help the g.o.p. and the irony is it has hurt republican voters because throughout the primary season, fans of real conservatives like gingrich or santorum saw their candidates mowed down by the mitt romney money machine so the republican race for the nomination citizens united hurt the conservative voting base. >> here's the other
